This is a high-impact role for an experienced CPA who combines strong technical accounting expertise with a builder mindset. You will own the company’s day-to-day financial operations while helping establish the processes, controls, and reporting infrastructure needed to support a growing startup environment. We are looking for someone who is strategic when needed, but equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves and executing.
Lead all accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements.
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
Prepare and present timely financial reporting, cash flow analysis, and operational insights to leadership.
Develop and maintain scalable financial processes, controls, and reporting systems to support company growth.
Oversee corporate tax compliance, HST filings, payroll remittances, and coordination with external tax advisors.
Manage relationships with external accountants, auditors, banks, and other financial partners.
Ensure compliance with federal and Ontario regulatory requirements and maintain strong internal controls.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
Drive continuous improvement across finance operations, systems, and workflows.
Act as a trusted partner to leadership by providing financial guidance, analysis, and operational support.
CPA designation in good standing in Ontario.
10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including significant experience in a Controller or senior finance leadership capacity.
Strong knowledge of Canadian GAAP, financial reporting, corporate tax, and regulatory compliance.
Experience working in a startup, high-growth, or entrepreneurial environment preferred.
Hands-on operator who is comfortable managing both strategic finance responsibilities and day-to-day accounting execution.
Strong systems and process orientation with experience improving financial infrastructure and controls.
Advanced proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with leadership and external stakeholders.
We are looking for someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment and enjoys building alongside a growing company. This role is ideal for a senior finance professional who wants meaningful ownership, direct impact, and the opportunity to help shape the financial foundation of a scaling business.
